These pictures show how we mounted the seat and harness.
All harness attachment points are welded directly to the frame
or cage. The kit only comes with the two lap belt attachment
points. These are shown below on the passenger side, but are
the same on the driver side.
I installed a harness bar for attachment of the shoulder
harness. This is the proper way to mount the harness in order
to keep the angle between it and the driver's shoulders correct.
The sub belt goes throught the bottom of the seat and attaches
to a tab. This tab is welded to a roll cage member directly
under the aluminum floor.
The seat back brace helps support the seat in a wreck. Two
bolts secure the seat to the brace. The seat also uses three
bolts through the bottom to secure it to the frame. You may
not notice it in the picture, but the seat is purposely mounted
crooked. This is partially to get it as tight up against the
tranny tunnel as possible. In addition, the pedals are slightly
offset to the left, so it is natural to turn the seat slightly
to the left.
The Kirkey seat is aluminum with a padded cover that snaps
into place. It's fairly comfortable for an economy seat, and
it comes with the kit. I bent the sides in slightly to better
hold me in place in the turns.
This
site contains pics and info as a reference to those building FFR
Spec Racers, and anyone that simply has an interest.
The
site will not be updated further as I have sold this car in early
2003 before the start of the race season.
